Cell migration under confinement Workshop
From May 22 to 24, 2017, it was held the Cell migration under confinement Workshop, in Palmela, Lisbon. The main objective of the workshop was to bring together group members from the different ReTuBi consortium groups involved in research in cell migration to discuss new results and future prospective in the field and further foster collaboration.
ReTuBi Lecture - Jason Chin
On May 15 of 2017, Jason Chin, from the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (United Kingdom) was the invited speaker as an expert visit for the "ReTuBi Lecture" with the talk “Reprogramming the Genetic Code”.
ReTuBi School Seminars - "The Biology of Cancer in one hour"
During the month of May, the ReTuBi project promoted several educational sessions entitled "The Biology of Cancer in one hour" addressed to the Secondary School students from the Biology course, in Lisbon. The following sessions were presented by the following researchers:

The main goal of these educational sessions is to present the iMM Lisboa research in the cancer and tumour biology area. The themes presented were focused on:
- What is cancer;
- Cell division;
- The repair mechanisms of DNA;
- Types of cancer;
- Which can lead to cancer;
- The properties of cancer;
- The role of the microenvironment;
- Carcinogenesis and new treatments.
ReTuBi Lecture - Oliver Stone
On April 12 of 2017, Oliver Stone, from the Max-Planck-Institute for Heart and Lung Research - Department of Developmental Genetics (Germany) was the invited speaker as an expert visit for the "ReTuBi Lecture" with the talk “Transcriptional and metabolic regulation of vascular form and function”.
Visit to iMM and ReTuBi labs
On March 20 of 2017, a group of 27 secondary school students from the Biology course participated in a visit to three ReTuBi labs (Edgar Gomes, Cláudio Franco and Luís Costa Labs) and two iMM facilities (ZebraFish Facility and Histology and Comparative Pathology Laboratory). The objective of this visit was to explain to students that through the ReTuBi project, the Instituto de Medicina Molecular (iMM) aims to fight cancer by reinforcing its capacity for outstanding pre-clinical and translational research, and by creating a dynamic cluster of excellence within the Lisbon region in the field of cancer research.
Staff exchange between iMM-DKFZ (2017/03)
From March 25-29 of 2017, Aida Lima, Joana Carvalho and Pedro Barbacena from Cláudio Franco Lab (iMM) made a “ReTuBi Staff Exchange” to Andreas Fischer Lab (DKFZ) to get new expertise in pathological angiogenesis and metastasis formation.
